Schools
Conducting Healthy Kids 5210 and Eat Smart to Play Hard healthy habits initiatives
Supporting fruit and vegetable tastings
Building a new school garden at Brown Early
Childhood Center where 24 classes plant, maintain, harvest, and eat fresh produce
Food System
Promoting and marketing the Portales
Farmers' Market on social mediaEducating 2ªd graders to "Re-Think Your Drink" (i.e., more water and fewer sugary beverages)
Encouraging school cafeterias to promote and serve NM Grown foods when available
Built Environment
• Printing and distributing Walking Opportunities in Roosevelt County, a guide/map of local trails
Key Successes
Engaged community partners to construct a new garden at Brown Early Childhood Center where all preschool and kindergarten classes could participate.
